Labor and Delivery Bag Checklist

A hospital or birth bag list for the stuff that is actually nice to have when the day comes.

Paperwork

ID and insurance card
Put them somewhere easy to grab when checking in.
Birth preferences
Bring a short version if you have one, and know plans can change.
Important phone numbers
Partner, support person, doula, pediatrician, and family contacts.

For Labor

Comfy clothes
Robe, loose top, socks, slippers, or whatever your birth place allows.
Toiletries
Toothbrush, toothpaste, hair ties, lip balm, deodorant, brush, and face wipes.
Long charger
Hospital outlets are never where you want them to be.

For the Stay

Going-home outfit for you
Soft, loose, comfortable, and not something you will be annoyed wearing.
Feeding supplies
Nursing bra, pads, bottles, or anything your feeding plan might need.
Snacks for support people
Check what is allowed, but having something packed can save a lot of vending-machine drama.

For Baby

Baby going-home outfit
Pack newborn and one size up, because babies love making sizing confusing.
Car seat installed
Do this before labor if you can. Future you will be grateful.
Blanket or swaddle
Something weather-appropriate for the ride home.
